Beta Testing Smart Transcribe

We’ve been working on a new feature we’d love for you to test out.  We’re calling it Smart Transcribe and it’s a simple way to add new memorials to the site from grave photos.

When you upload gravestone photos with Smart Transcribe, we’ll use AI to check for duplicates and transcribe the gravestones.  When Smart Transcribe is done processing the images, we’ll show you the results and let you review and edit the transcriptions before proceeding.

We’ll be beta testing Smart Transcribe on a test server, so images you add and memorials you create won’t show up on the live site.  This means you can play around with the feature and not worry about adding bad information to the live site.  The test server may be a little slower than what you are used to and won’t have your account from the main Find a Grave site.

To test Smart Transcribe:

  1. Go to the test site.
  2. Login or create an account. (Remember: this site doesn’t have your regular account, so if you haven’t tested here before, you’ll need to create an account.)
  3. Select “Upload Photos” on the homepage and find a cemetery where you’ve taken some pictures. (Remember: If your images have GPS, the site will check to see if those images are near the cemetery, so you’ll need to upload images from that cemetery or without GPS coordinates.)
  4. Choose Smart Transcribe.
  5. Upload your images.
  6. Test the process!
  7. Share your feedback, suggestions, problems or success stories in the comments on this page.

Thanks again for helping us test this new feature!
