The Photo Requests page is a place to find headstone photo requests from other members. You can access it by selecting the camera icon in the upper right corner on Find a Grave. By default the page will show open requests, with no problems reported, in cemeteries where you have chosen to volunteer. To volunteer for a specific cemetery, go to the cemetery page and select Volunteer.
On the Photo requests page, you can also search for requests from a specific cemetery, other locations, or from a particular Find a Grave member from the Filter menu.

To search by cemetery, add the cemetery name or the cemetery ID and select Show to see the results.

You can Claim and Fulfill the photo request from this page or from the memorial page. If you need to report a problem for the photo request, select the flag.
When you ‘fulfill’ the photo request or ‘report a problem’ an email notification is sent to the member that requested the photo. When a photo request is fulfilled, in the email there is a link for the photo requester to follow and thank the photo volunteer. We encourage members to reach out and send a note of appreciation to thank the volunteer for their time and efforts to help you.
On the Photo Requests page you’ll also see a tab for requests you have claimed and requests you have made, labeled ‘Requests I Claimed’ and ‘My Requests.’

Find a Grave app
In the Find a Grave app, you can easily find Photo requests by using the Cemetery Search map. Cemeteries with open photo requests have a green pin.
To go to a cemetery page with photo requests tap on the green pin in the map or swipe up from the bottom to view the list of cemeteries mapped and see which have photo requests. Once on the cemetery page, tap on the ‘# Photo requests’ button to see the list of memorials with photo requests. You can also filter a list of memorials to only view those with photos requests.
Hundreds of thousands of photo requests are fulfilled each year because of volunteers like you! We understand that not everyone can travel to the cemeteries and appreciate all the ways that members contribute and help each other. Recently, a member shared their thoughts on volunteering, expressing how they feel it is “out of kindness and the joy of giving a little to others.” We completely agree. Thanks for all you do to help one another!
This program is one of the best I have come across. My mother would have been overjoyed if this service had been available in the 1930’s etc when only success was to take pencil and paper. And visit cemeteries that was within traveling distance with whatever transportation was available.
There are a few things that are better in the present years, than 100 years ago. Congratulations!
I’m 78, and I wanted to see what requests were at cemeteries near me, and I was shocked at how many! I was more shocked when I went to several cemeteries in my area. There were so many markers that were unreadable! Covered in green and brown, and broken.
