Find a Grave Volunteer of the Month

Congratulations to José L Bernabé Tronchoni our featured Volunteer of the Month for August, 2020! José is very active contributing grave photos from his homeland in Valencia, Spain and currently has submitted over 1200 famous biographies, many for famous individuals who descend from Spain.

José is also interested in researching information and locations for famous graves and creating and maintaining virtual cemeteries. In 2014, he was able to visit the grave of one of his favorite writers, Julio Cortázar, located in the Cimetière de Montparnasse in Paris (pictured here).

I discovered Find a Grave while looking for information on supporting actors from the Hollywood classics. When I first started contributing I added actors from Spain and also Spanish actors from America. Then I started adding writers and artists. Right now, I enjoy linking memorials together for the families of the famous people that I’m researching. In my research I’ve discovered unknown burial locations and new biographical information that has helped expand the knowledge and share the culture of my homeland.

As we were virtually wandering around Spain, through memorials and grave photos in José’s account, we noticed how many of them had interesting sculptures or reliefs and wondered about the stories behind their creation.

José, our accolades to you for your extraordinary work in cemeteries! We are so glad that you are a Find a Grave member and appreciate all your efforts in recording and memorializing those that have passed.

We welcome your suggestions for Volunteer of the Month. If you’d like to submit a volunteer for consideration in future months, please send an email with details of their work to feedback@findagrave.com.

  1. Thanks a lot for choosing me as volunteer of the month. And thanks to all the contributors who during all these years have helped me complete and upgrade my memorials. Best wishes from Valencia, Spain.

  2. Congratulations Jose, well deserved. We visited your beautiful city back in 2016 while on a Spain cruise out of Barcelona. It was just for the day while on a stop, but we hope to return one day and spend more time. Jerry and Roger
